The Language Of the Tarot & 'Tarotreader'

by Taro

There are times in our lives, when we may wish to seek wise counsel for information or advise. At these times it is often appropriate to look to a professional with expertise in the particular area of inquiry; some may prefer a trusted and respected family member or friend for help.

At other times, you may just wish to think over the possibilities of a situation by yourself. Perhaps to consider things like who, what, where, when and why , or to look at things like star-signs, or areas that may be creating various impacts or complication in your life. It is at these times, some may look for alternatives.

Mankind has always desired to understand the wisdom of the ages. Some have sought out Oracles. These enchanting stories of oracles and their practices, talk of their ability to reach into a secret world of wisdom and knowledge. The ancients believed in these and many different forms of divination, one of them, the Tarot. Throughout history, the Tarot has enjoyed a high reputation and regard, both by patrons and practitioners of the craft.

Many people seek and expect different things when they seek a personal understanding of the Tarot.

As they progress, they often are amazed at the variety of meanings and the inconsistencies from pack to pack. Few recognise the imprecision or errors. For this reason, it is difficult for people starting out to gain a real understanding.

Added to this are the many personal opinions and views on various forums and alike. This all contributes to misunderstandings, confusion and perhaps arguments about how the Tarot cards communicate.

It is important to understand that the Tarot is a real language, with meanings that are based on logic and structure; although this may not at first be immediately apparent.

Many try to teach themselves by trying to memorise meanings provided in the more popular packs, as if these isolated meanings are to be somehow useful. Others may adopt an intuitive approach by giving their own meanings to cards, which they might feel to be appropriate.

If you were to learn another language, would you learn isolated and unrelated parts or simply make up your own words and meanings and expect to be able to communicate in that language? Strangely this seems to be very common for people trying to learn the language of Tarot!

For those who do persevere and do achieve their own personal understanding, they have created yet another fractured dialect of the Tarot language. There are many versions or dialects of the Tarot, each wishing to claim credibility.

Sadly each of these Tarot dialects are unrelated to each other, being incompatible as a practical or a common language, the real effect is that they provide little that can be easily communicated. This perhaps adds to the mystery of the Tarot language, but it also adds to the confusion. The language of Tarot seems doomed to continue to remain forever veiled in mystery.

Personally, I find the Tarot language is like life; full of magic.

I have spent a lifetime striving to perfect my Art and understand its' language. Originally I found the Tarot to be complex and a difficult language to understand, as time went on, I discovered that in reality it is one that is based on simplicity. The Tarot language is comprised of simple symbolism. For those who first see a glimpse of this simplicity, they often believe it far too basic to constitute having a useful purpose and thus discount it. Yet, Wow! this very simplicity quickly builds and is capable of such complexity. This language having a beautiful purity. Tarot truly is a structured language that symbolizes basic rules of logic, which ones mind can quickly and easily manipulate.

'Tarotreader the written Tarot', utilize certain aspects of this Tarot language.

Tarotreader is a patent pending, new age tarot game, designed to amuse and entertain. It is a fully functional Tarot version and like any Tarot, it is always open to the individual readers personal and differing interpretations.

Tarotreader is a game that I use to consider the many possibilities, situations and the opportunities in my life. It often places hypothetical possibilities before me that which I might not have otherwise considered; allowing me to think about and examine these things. I enjoy pondering the possibilities of these situations and considering how those possibilities could have assistance, impact or effect upon my life. Sometimes these possibilities and situations seem to be reflecting my life.

Tarotreader offers up possibilities to posed questions. If the same question is posed again, it may offer up similar possibilities, but with a different slant, or perhaps it may offer up other possibilities. Tarotreader always comments; sometimes it adds more. It is a game that adapts each and every time that it is used. It may even suggest other interesting possibilities. These might promote further thought about the subject in a new and different, perhaps interesting way.

Most trend their path in life trying to understand their place in the universe. Tarotreader is a language based game that may encourage examination of different thoughts and ideas about the self or others. Perhaps to consider the pleasures or pain of feelings within the body whether physical, or emotional. For some, a wish to look at activities in the workplace, home place, or any place. Whilst others, might wish to examine the possibilities of valuable things or gifts in their life, be they people, resources or assets. All may eventually trust in the unseen forces that regularly help or hinder them as they go about their daily life.

Look for my new book, which I expect will be published shortly. It will provide additional information. In it will be discussed further aspects about the Tarot and the Tarotreader game. It will also look at the Tarot language in particular. A software version of Tarotreader is well underway. It is hoped that both of these will be available in the near future.
